ABOUT
Kate Barker (b.1974) is a British Artist based in the South West of England. With over 20 years experience she has an established arts practice exploring coastal and urban landscapes alongside wild botanicals found in nature. Having trained in Manchester in the 1990’s , she furthered her studies attending the school of Bellas Artes in Valencia , Spain, igniting her love for travel. She works internationally and has travelled extensively, living and working in India, Africa and Europe, places that continue to influence her work.
Having completed a traineeship with The LondonPrintStudios and residing in London she established her arts practice alongside working as an Art Educator with cultural institutions such as The V&A, The Greenwich Maritime Museum and Camden Arts Centre. In 2005 Kate moved to Devon to focus on her arts practice full time. She has a deep appreciation of nature and as an avid surfer, the ocean profoundly influences her creative practice today.
Her work straddles painting, drawing and printmaking. She has exhibited in London, Spain, and throughout the UK, with gallery representation including a number of galleries in the South West. Her works are held in private collections throughout the UK and worldwide.
